Lower Rio Grande Valley Barrel Cactus is a spherical, elongated-shaped barrel cactus that reaches a height of 12 inches and a width of 8 inches. It is found growing in the South Texas Plains in areas located near the Rio Grande River. It blooms during the summer with lemon or greenish-yellow flowers and the fruit is a green, egg-shaped berry.
