Cane Bluestem is a bunchgrass extending twenty-three to fifty-two inches in height. It grows in sandy loam gravel, loam, and calcareous soils of the South Texas Plains and Edwards Plateau. Cane Bluestem flowers in the midsummer and has poor forage value for wildlife and fair forage value for livestock.
